FCT High Court Discharges Stella Oduah in ₦2.5bn Fraud Case, Convicts Linked Firms

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) sitting in Maitama, Abuja, presided over by Justice Hamza Muazu, has discharged former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah and her aide, Gloria Odita, from an alleged ₦2.5 billion fraud case.

The ruling followed the prosecution’s decision to amend charges and proceed only against two companies linked to the alleged fraud. The firms: Sobora International Ltd and Global Offshore & Marine Ltd — pleaded guilty, were convicted, ordered to be wound up, and forfeited ₦1.98 billion to the Federal Government.

Justice Muazu directed that ₦1.2 billion paid as restitution and ₦780 million recovered during investigations be forfeited, while Oduah and Odita were formally discharged. The case stemmed from allegations that billions were fraudulently obtained through aviation ministry contracts.

Originally arraigned in December 2025 on a five‑count charge of fraud, breach of trust, and obtaining money by false pretence, Oduah’s discharge underscores the court’s reliance on plea bargain arrangements and corporate accountability in financial crime prosecutions.
