The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command has deployed 4,000 personnel across the territory to provide security before, during and after the Easter celebrations.

This is according to a statement by the NSCDC Spokesperson, Monica Ojobi on Thursday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NSCDC Headquarters had deployed 57,000 personnel to ensure a hitch-free celebration across the country.

Ojobi stated that the FCT NSCDC Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, had ordered the operatives to enforce law and order while ensuring the rights of residents are not violated as Christians celebrate Easter.

Odumosu disclosed that the deployed men were drawn from the specialised units of the corps: Arms squared, Female Strike Force,  a crack squad, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive (CBRNE) counter Terrorism unit, and Agro Rangers.

Odumosu also directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure their various Area Councils remain on top of their beats while ensuring their presence is felt to avoid security hitches.

He further charged all personnel to be disciplined and of good conduct while working with other security agencies.

The commandant advised officers to adhere strictly to the rules of engagement, avoid harassment and intimidation of any citizen as well as accidental discharge.

“Residents are advised to watch out for people dressed abnormally, bags, metals and objects placed in suspicious areas to avoid being  victims of terrorists attacks,” he directed.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
