DHQ Condemns Woro Terror Attacks, Calls for Unity, Resistance to Extremism

By Chimezie Godfrey

The Defence Headquarters has expressed profound shock over the recent terrorist attacks on Woro and neighbouring communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

In a statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, on Thursday, the DHQ described the killings as cowardly and tragic.

The statement commended the resilience and courage of the affected communities, noting that they resisted violent coercion and upheld constitutional values.

It recalled that the terrorists had earlier sought to conduct an indoctrination session in Woro, which was rejected by the villagers.

According to the DHQ, security agencies were promptly informed and troops were deployed for patrols and surveillance.

However, the statement said the attackers later returned to carry out the killings in a bid to instil fear.

The DHQ urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their faith in the Constitution and reject extremist ideologies.

It called on citizens across ethnic, religious and regional lines to resist violent indoctrination.

The statement reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to safeguarding Nigerians and strengthening cooperation with communities.

It added that efforts had been intensified to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attacks.
