The Delta Government has urged qualified youths of the state origin to take advantage of the ongoing Nigerian Army 92 Regular Recruits Intake (RRI) for Non-Tradesmen/Non-Tradeswomen and Tradesmen/Tradeswomen.
Mr Latimore Oghenesivbe, the Director-General, Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, said this in a statement on Thursday in Asaba.
Oghenesivbe said the exercise is a valuable opportunity for Delta youths to pursue a prestigious professional career, serve their fatherland and contribute to the defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
He urged eligible youths to apply online, free of charge, through the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal, https://recruit.army.mil.ng, adding that the application window which began on Sept. 9, would end on Oct. 21.
“A career in the Nigerian army offers young Nigerians structured professional development, career progression, regular pay and allowances, specialised military training, continuing education and opportunities for further academic advancement.
“It also exposes personnel to diverse experiences and opportunities to serve the nation within and, where applicable, outside Nigeria.
“Military service is a paid and pensionable employment, offering retirement benefits including pension and gratuity, alongside medical care and other welfare provisions for personnel and their families,” he said.
According to him, opportunities aligns with the Delta State Government’s commitment to employment generation, youth empowerment and human capital development under the MORE Agenda of Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori.
He said beyond employment and professional benefits, enlistment into the Nigerian army offered young Nigerians the opportunity to contribute to national security and protection of Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He urged prospective applicants to approach the exercise with patriotism, discipline, integrity and a genuine commitment to national service.
He, however, cautioned applicants to carefully comply with all prescribed requirements.
“Candidates must be single Nigerian citizens by birth, medically, physically and psychologically fit in accordance with Nigerian Army standards.
“He must have no criminal conviction by any court of competent jurisdiction. NIN and BVN are compulsory, with names and dates of birth required to correspond across the NIN, BVN and other credentials.
“Applicants must present only genuine and verifiable credentials, any forged or falsified credentials will not be accepted, ” he said.
The D-G said applicants must also satisfy the prescribed age and physical requirements.
According to him, Non-Trades applicants must be between 18 and 22 years, while Tradesmen and Trades- women must not be more than 26 years by Oct. 21.
Oghenesivbe said the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, would provide necessary assistance to eligible Delta applicants participating in the NA-RRI 92 recruitment exercise.
“The committee will provide guidance and awareness support, including transport logistics to the Cenotaph in Asaba for the screening exercise, while welfare and feeding for participating applicants will be provided by Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, ” he said.
He said the state government would continue to support initiatives that expand legitimate employment opportunities, empower young people and strengthen their contribution to national development.
