The Ministry of Defence has called on indigenous defence equipment manufacturers to maintain high product standards to enhance Nigeria’s security and export prospects.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Richard Pheelangwa, made the call during a familiarisation visit to Equipment and Protective Applications International Limited and Proforce Group Limited in Ogun State.
He commended the companies for their contributions to the country’s security architecture and urged them to sustain the production of durable military equipment.
According to him, the ministry has continued to support indigenous firms by facilitating end-user certificates and tax exemptions to ease the importation of raw materials.
“The ministry has demonstrated strong commitment to assist the companies in delivering their projects,” Pheelangwa said.
He added that continuous integrity checks were necessary, especially for products meant for export.
The Managing Director of EPRIL, Mr Kola Balogun, thanked the ministry for its support and pledged continued collaboration.
Similarly, the Managing Director of Proforce Group, Engr Ade Ogundeyin, appreciated the government’s recognition and assured of sustained partnership.
Pheelangwa said the government would continue to partner with local defence manufacturers to strengthen national security and promote self-reliance.
