The Minister of Defence, Retired Gen. Christopher Musa has commended the National Defence College (NDC) for it’s continuous immense contributions towards eradicating insecurity in Nigeria and the world at large.
Musa also lauded the college for maintaining very high standard of excellence and efficiency which had continued to attract military and defence personnel from other African and non African countries.
He gave the commendation in his remarks at the graduation lecture of Course -34 participants on Monday in Abuja.
According to him, African nations must continue to deepen collaboration through continental initiatives such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and collectively pursue policies that promote innovation and shared prosperity.
He expressed joy about the several African countries that had sent top military officials to Nigeria to attend the NDC, adding that it showed togetherness, interconnectedness and synergy.
“I am very happy to see the flags here. We are Africans. We must work together and understand ourselves because though we are separated by boarders, deep down, we are just one people.
“When we have more Africans and more countries coming to attend our college, it goes to show the capacity that that the NDC has.
“I think it is something that we should be proud of. We have 54 African countries, and I am looking forward to when all countries will send their representatives to attend the college,” he said.
The minister noted that in spite of the boarders, it was not difficult to see that Africans have so many things in common, adding that the international cooperation should be encouraged.
He called on Africans to work together in all aspects that affected one nation, and not only on security .
“As they say, charity begins at home, every African country has one challenge or the other. It is by working together that we can defeat these enemies of peace and I think we are in the right path, let’s keep going,” he said.
He commended the NDC commandant, Rear Adm. Abdullahi Ahmed, for his leadership and organisation of the college affairs.
