The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has dismissed a viral video claiming it partnered with a company to distribute petrol using motorcycle dispatch riders.
The video, which circulated widely online, shows a man attempting to bypass fuel queues by ordering petrol via WhatsApp.
In the clip, a dispatch rider arrives with a mini fuel dispenser mounted on his motorcycle and fills the man’s vehicle.
The advert promoted an alleged service called “FuelUp”—or “FeelUp,” as referenced in some posts—claiming it was “powered by Dangote Petroleum.” Some viewers speculated that the video may have been created using AI.
The concept drew mixed reactions, ranging from praise for innovation to concerns over safety. Many users questioned its authenticity, noting the dangers associated with transporting petrol on motorcycles.
On November 16, 2025, Dangote Petroleum Refinery released an official statement disassociating itself from the video. The company also posted on its social media platforms, stating: “We are not in any way associated with this.”
According to the refinery, it supplies fuel only in bulk to filling stations and industrial clients, not directly to individual consumers.
The video sparked significant concern online, as transporting petrol in such a manner can easily lead to fires or explosions.
