The Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian Immigration Service in Kebbi State have pledged to strengthen inter-agency collaboration to enhance border security and protect officers and host communities.
The commitment was made when the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Kebbi Area Command, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, received the newly posted State Comptroller of Immigration, Mohammed Lawal Hayatuddeen, at the command headquarters on January 29, 2026.
Hayatuddeen, who paid a courtesy visit to the command, commended Ibrahim for the warm reception and support extended to him upon his arrival in the state.
He said, “The Customs Area Controller was the first to officially welcome me at the airport and facilitated my engagement with other security agencies.”
He described Ibrahim as humble, approachable and professional, urging junior officers to emulate his leadership style.
The Immigration boss also charged senior officers to prioritise the welfare and mental wellbeing of junior personnel in order to enhance productivity and service delivery.
He reaffirmed his commitment to improved collaboration, intelligence sharing and sustained inter-agency cooperation for effective border management.
Responding, Ibrahim said the visit was in line with the policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, which emphasises collaboration, consolidation and innovation.
He stressed the need for sustained intelligence sharing, recalling past security challenges along the Maje axis in Bagudo Local Government Area.
