The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has emphasised the need for a unified and coordinated approach among security agencies to effectively address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
He made this known while receiving the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, during a familiarisation visit to the Army Headquarters.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, the engagement focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration.
“The Chief of Army Staff underscored the critical importance of a unified and coordinated approach among security agencies as a cornerstone for addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges,” the statement read.
During the visit, the IGP stressed the need for enhanced synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force.
He commended the existing partnership between both institutions, describing it as vital to achieving national security objectives.
The IGP also appreciated the Army’s role in training Police Mobile Force personnel, noting that it has improved operational effectiveness.
He assured the Army of continued intelligence sharing and coordination in joint operations.
In his response, the COAS congratulated the IGP on his appointment and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to strengthening joint operations.
He also recalled their past collaboration during the United Nations Mission in Darfur.
The Army Chief acknowledged the support of the Nigeria Police Force in operations across Kogi, Kwara, and Niger states, particularly in tackling banditry and kidnapping.
He reiterated that sustained inter-agency collaboration remains essential for achieving lasting peace and security in the country.
