The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has reiterated the Armed Forces’ commitment to sustaining peace and stability in Benue State.

He spoke when he received Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

General Oluyede said improved security in the state was a product of collaboration.

“The progress recorded in Benue State is a result of enhanced synergy between security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and the state government,” he said.

He added that lasting stability was achievable.
“With sustained cooperation and trust, normalcy can be fully restored across affected areas and across the nation,” Oluyede stated.

Governor Alia congratulated the CDS and praised the military’s efforts.

“The commitment of the Armed Forces has renewed hope and reassured our people,” the governor said.

He pledged continuous partnership, especially in the Sankera axis.

“We will continue to work closely with Defence Headquarters to consolidate peace in Katsina-Ala, Zaki Biam and Logo,” Alia said.

Oluyede revealed plans for improved coordination.
“We intend to establish a structured interface mechanism to strengthen cooperation with local stakeholders,” he noted.

He also stressed the need for rehabilitation programmes.

“Enduring support measures must be put in place to discourage relapse into criminal activities,” he said.

The meeting was attended by senior government and military officials.
