The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to operational readiness and national security during a two-day visit to Enugu State.
Aneke undertook the visit from February 5, 2026, to the Ground Training Command and other Nigerian Air Force units in the state.
During a courtesy visit to Government House, he commended Governor Peter Mbah for supporting Air Force personnel, particularly in accommodation and infrastructure development.
“Ground training is the engine room of airpower. When our personnel are properly trained and motivated, our aircraft can deliver decisive results,” Aneke said.
He described Enugu State’s support as a model for subnational cooperation in national security.
The air chief outlined the Air Force’s welfare and sustainability programmes, including housing and agro-allied initiatives to enhance personnel wellbeing.
He said the NAF would continue intelligence-driven collaboration with other security agencies to maintain peace in the South-East.
In his response, Governor Mbah pledged continued support to the Nigerian Air Force, including land for resettlement housing and agricultural projects.
He described security and development as inseparable priorities.
At the Ground Training Command, Aneke received a briefing from the Air Officer Commanding, Air Vice Marshal AG Kehinde, on training reforms and infrastructure upgrades.
He later inspected facilities and operational assets, assuring the Command of sustained institutional support.
