Burna Boy set to make Nollywood debut

Ace singer and songwriter, Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, has joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood).

The Grammy winning artiste will be making his debut as an executive producer in Black Mic Mac’s upcoming movie ‘3 Cold Dishes.’

Burna Boy would executively produce the movie through Spaceship Films, a company he co-founded alongside Bose Ogulu, his mother.

3 Cold Dishes will be co-produced by Black Mic Mac, Ifind, Alma Prods, Asurf Films, and Martian Network. Asurf Oluseyi took position on the directorial seat while it was written by Tomi Adesina.

“This film is a testament to the strength and resilience of its characters, and it took us blood and sweat to get it to this stage,” the director, Asurf Oluseyi stated in an interview with Variety.

CorrectNG recalls that veteran actor, Bob-Manuel Udokwu once decried the influx of poorly trained practitioners into the movie industry.

He expressed sadness that half-baked actors and filmmakers have invaded Nollywood and are now the leading characters.

The Nollywood star said industry should be better than the level it has reached and the only reason the growth seems stagnant is because a lot of unprofessional activities are taking place.

Bob-Manuel Udokwu spoke during an Instagram Live session with journalist, Azuh Arinze during the week of his 60th birthday.

The thespian said; “Nollywood ought to be greater than what it is at the moment. Unfortunately, the true potential of the industry is not being realised. A lot of unprofessional activities are going on.

“Many half-baked practitioners have invaded the industry. The real professionals should step forward and take back Nollywood.”
