The Registrar of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Malam Haruna Aliyu, has been named as the recipient of the 2026 AfricanAGE Academic Excellence and Educational Leadership Award of Excellence.
According to a letter dated September 15, 2026, signed by committee chairman Prince Sado A. O. Patrick and Executive Director Mrs. Philomina Onoshovhena, Aliyu was selected following an independent assessment conducted in August 2026 by the editorial board of AfricanAGE International Magazine.
The evaluation highlighted his contributions to educational leadership, academic standards, research output, innovation, and administrative efficiency within Nigeria’s education sector.
Organizers stated that the award honours individuals whose integrity and commitment drive human capital development, institutional growth, and quality education across Africa.
The formal presentation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 26, 2026, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, where recipients will receive a Gold Plaque and Certificate of Excellence.
The high-profile event will feature former Minister of Information and Culture Prof. Jerry Gana as chairman, former Senate President Senator David Mark as the Special Guest of Honour, and the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, serving as the Royal Father of the Day.
