Senegal’s President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has emerged as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), succeeding Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio.
DAILY POST gathered that Faye was elected during the regional high-level meeting of West African leaders.
Meanwhile, Biram Diop has been appointed as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission, replacing Dr Omar Touray.
The summit, attended by leaders from across the region, is expected to focus on strengthening regional integration, enhancing cooperation and promoting solidarity among the peoples of West Africa.
