Troops of operation whirl stroke, in collaboration with the Benue civil protection guard, have rescued Member Ityavber, a 28-year-old woman from kidnappers in Tse-Ubena village, Yooyo council ward, Katsina-Ala LGA, Benue state.
The operation, confirmed by Lt. Ahmad Zubairu, acting media information officer of OPWS, also led to the arrest of two suspected armed herders at Mbapa and Mbabuande in Gwer West LGA.
The statement read partly, “Troops responded to reports of kidnapping activities at Tse-Ubena village in Yooyo Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. Troops deployed from Tor-Donga, in conjunction with operatives of the Benue state civil protection guard, conductedthe operation.
“During the operation, one kidnapped victim, Mrs Member Ityavber, aged 28, was successfully rescued.”
The OPWS spokesperson added that two suspected armed herders were also arrested at Mbapa and Mbabuande in Gwer West Local Government Area of the state.
Lt Zubairu said the troops, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a thorough search and discovered an abandoned suspected criminal hideout.
Major general Moses Gara, Force Commander of the joint task force, praised the troops for their prompt response and professionalism, reaffirming the commitment of security forces to ensuring community safety ahead of the farming season.
