The member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State, Philip Agbese, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Agbese, who serves as the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, announced on Tuesday that he has defected to the Labour Party (LP).
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the lawmaker said his decision was driven by a desire to better serve his constituents.
“I am answering a higher call to serve my people with sincerity, humility, and commitment,” he said.
Agbese disclosed that he has been warmly received by Labour Party lawmakers in the House of Representatives across the country.
He also expressed admiration for the party’s leadership, referencing the National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, and describing the party as a united platform for Nigerians.
The lawmaker acknowledged the responsibility that comes with his new role, noting that as one of the party’s highest-ranking political office holders from Benue State, he is committed to strengthening and repositioning the party for future electoral success.
According to him, his membership of the Labour Party will be guided by inclusiveness, mutual respect, and recognition of the contributions of both old and new members toward building a stronger and more united party.
