Benue 2027: PDP Agrees on Aondoakaa as Flagbearer

Chief Michael Aondoakaa has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consensus governorship candidate for Benue State ahead of the 2027 elections, following a unanimous decision reached in Makurdi after a three-week consultative process.

The selection was the outcome of extensive negotiations involving 11 aspirants, party leaders, and key stakeholders, with the process overseen by prominent figures including former Governor Samuel Ortom and Senate Minority Leader Patrick Abba Moro, alongside party executives and elder groups.

All co-aspirants endorsed Aondoakaa’s emergence, pledging their full support for his candidacy in a show of party unity aimed at strengthening the PDP’s chances in the المقبلة election.

Speaking after the decision, Ortom commended the aspirants for their cooperation and urged them to remain committed to a collective goal of reclaiming power from incumbent Governor Hyacinth Alia in 2027.

In his acceptance speech, Aondoakaa expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, promising to unify the party, build a formidable campaign, and deliver impactful governance if elected.
