A fresh attack by suspected armed bandits has killed 23 farmers on their farmlands in Sauna District of Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara.
The daylight attack has risen to 23, community sources confirmed on Thursday.
Earlier, the Zamfara State Police Command, through the Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the attack, saying 15 people were killed.

According to fresh accounts from Sauna District, the figure increased after more bodies were recovered at farmlands.
Residents said the victims were attacked while working on their farmlands on Wednesday morning.
An indigene of the area who wanted to remain anonymous for security reasons said the bandits who arrived on multiple motorcycles opened fire indiscriminately on anyone found in the fields.
A community source lamented that the burial of all 23 victims was conducted earlier today, Thursday, and
were buried in a mass burial at Sauna village.
Confirming the incident, the police public relations officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said that at the time they received the report, 15 people were killed.
He disclosed that security personnel were deployed to the area to restore normalcy.
