A personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified simply as Mr. Ayo, has been killed while his daughter was abducted during a bandit attack on Odo-Ere in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The attack reportedly occurred on Monday evening when armed assailants invaded the community, causing panic among residents. Sources said the NSCDC officer was shot during the incident and later died while receiving treatment at a medical facility.
The attackers were also said to have abducted the officer’s first daughter before fleeing the area. Residents expressed fears over the worsening security situation and called on security agencies to take urgent action to prevent further attacks.
The latest incident has heightened tension in Odo-Ere and neighbouring communities, where residents have repeatedly complained about recurring kidnappings and armed attacks by criminal groups.
The attack comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kogi and neighbouring Kwara State. As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the killing and abduction.
