Aubameyang bags Ligue 1 African Player of the Year award

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s performances for Olympique de Marseille has earned him the coveted Prix Marc-Vivien Foé.

The award by Radio France International and France 24, is an annual recognition for the top African player in Ligue 1.

It is a means of paying tribute to the late Marc-Vivien Foé, a respected midfielder who tragically passed away during a match between Cameroon and Colombia in the Confederations Cup.

Aubameyang now joins the esteemed ranks of André Ayew and Chancel Mbemba as the third Marseille player to claim the prestigious title.

Aubameyang also eyes the competitive UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Season award.

However, he faces bigger competition from Kylian Mbappé, who seeks his fifth consecutive trophy in the category.
