Atiku reacts as Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya emerges 33rd NBA president

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her election as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

In a statement shared on Sunday, Atiku described her victory as a clear endorsement of her leadership by members of Nigeria’s legal profession, expressing confidence in her ability to steer the association effectively.

The former vice president also hailed her emergence as another major milestone for women in the legal profession, noting that her election reflects the growing recognition of female leadership within the country’s justice sector.

Congratulating the newly elected NBA president, Atiku urged her administration to remain steadfast in defending the principles that have long defined the association.

According to him, the Nigerian Bar Association plays a critical role in safeguarding constitutional democracy, promoting the rule of law, protecting fundamental human rights and preserving the independence of the judiciary.

He called on the new leadership to uphold those values with courage, professionalism and independence while working to expand access to justice for all Nigerians.
