The Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC) has strengthened the capacity of its young female personnel through an inter-agency lecture series designed to deepen their understanding of the roles of sister security agencies in military operations.
The programme was organised under EXERCISE SHINING STAR 2026 and held at the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) Auditorium, Giri, Abuja.
The lectures brought together resource persons from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to educate participants on how the agencies complement military efforts in addressing security challenges.
Speaking during the programme, the Commander of NAWC, Brigadier General Adamu, stressed the need for stronger cooperation, information sharing and mutual support among the Armed Forces and other security agencies.
He urged the young female personnel to pay close attention to the presentations and gain a clear understanding of the responsibilities of various security agencies in supporting military operations.
Earlier, the Commanding Officer, 1 Women Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel BO Evevakpo, explained the objectives of EXERCISE SHINING STAR 2026, noting its importance to the professional development and capacity building of young female personnel.
The first lecture, titled “The Role of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Support of Military Operations,” was delivered by Assistant Commandant Imonikhe Oluwakemi.
Commander of Narcotics, Nweke Angela Oluchi of the NDLEA, delivered the second lecture on the agency’s contribution to military operations, while Assistant Comptroller Rhoda Umunadi Digberen of the NCS spoke on the role of Customs in supporting military operations and national security.
At the end of each presentation, the NAWC Commander provided a summary of the key lessons and appreciated the guest speakers for sharing their professional expertise and operational experiences with the participants.
The exercise ended with closing remarks by Brigadier General Adamu and a group photograph involving the resource persons and participating personnel.
