The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has declared an unbreakable alliance between the Nigerian Army and the Taraba State Government in the renewed fight against terrorism and insecurity.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
Anele said the declaration was made when Governor Agbu Kefas visited the Army Headquarters on January 27, 2026.
“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its constitutional mandate to support civil authorities in the maintenance of peace and security,” Shaibu was quoted as saying.
He described Taraba as strategic to national security.
“The state occupies a critical position within the nation’s security architecture,” he said.
The COAS commended the governor for supporting military operations.
“The donation of land and provision of operational equipment have significantly enhanced our operational effectiveness,” Shaibu stated.
He called for stronger civil-military cooperation.
“Sustainable peace can only be achieved through strong civil-military collaboration,” he added.
Shaibu appealed for improved power supply to military formations.
“Stable electricity will enhance combat readiness and troop welfare,” he said.
He also urged residents to provide intelligence.
“Community cooperation remains a decisive weapon in defeating terrorists,” he stated.
