Amaechi reacts to attack on ADC secretariat in Rivers

Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, has condemned the attack on the party’s secretariat in Ubima, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers state.

Unknown persons set fire to a section of the office on Friday morning, hours before Amaechi was scheduled to register as an ADC member at Ward 8.

The attack caused panic among residents.

In a statement on X, Amaechi called the incident “evil acts of intimidation and violence” and urged security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

“These evil acts cannot deter us but will make us stronger and more determined to vote out this government that is rapidly destroying our country, Nigeria,” he said, while warning supporters to remain peaceful.

The attack came hours before the former governor officially registered as a member of the opposition party at ward 8 in the local government.

Amaechi urged supporters who gathered to welcome him to shun all forms of violence that could lead to loss of life.
