THE BRIEF

Young people make up more than half of the world’s population and represent one of the most powerful forces for innovation, social transformation, and sustainable development. Yet, millions of youths—particularly in the Global South—continue to face systemic barriers such as poverty, inequality, limited access to quality education, and exclusion from decision-making processes that directly affect their futures.

Education shapes life opportunities, economic mobility, and civic participation. For this reason, young people must move beyond being passive recipients of education to becoming active co-creators of learning systems. As technology, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation rapidly reshape societies, youth engagement is critical to building education models that are relevant, inclusive, future-ready, and aligned with global development priorities.
