Afrinvest’s digital platform Optimus, rebrands as PlutusNeo

Afrinvest has rebranded its digital investment platform, Optimus by Afrinvest, as PlutusNeo by Afrinvest. This is as the investment firm deepens its push into digital financial services.

The platform, launched in 2022, was developed to give retail investors access to Afrinvest-managed investment products through a digital interface. It allows users to invest in a range of instruments managed by the firm, which has operated in Nigeria’s capital markets for over three decades.

According to Afrinvest, the name change reflects a broader repositioning of the platform as it evolves beyond a standalone investment app into a more integrated digital offering. The firm said the rebrand aligns the platform with other group-wide digital initiatives, including plans to introduce payments and lending services over time.

Despite the change in name, Afrinvest said the platform’s ownership, governance structure, security framework and user experience remain unchanged. Existing users are not required to take any action, as accounts, login details, portfolios and transaction histories will be retained.

Ayodeji Ebo, managing director of PlutusNeo by Afrinvest, said the rebrand marks a shift in focus towards long-term growth and a wider retail user base, building on the progress recorded since the platform’s launch.

Through PlutusNeo, users can access naira and dollar-denominated mutual funds, other investment products and U.S. equities from a single platform. Afrinvest said additional financial services may be added as part of its broader digital expansion.

Afrinvest Group Managing Director, Ike Chioke, said the platform reflects the firm’s attempt to extend its investment approach to a broader segment of the market, particularly retail investors.

Afrinvest operates across investment banking, securities trading, asset management, trusteeship, consultancy and technology services in Nigeria’s capital market ecosystem.
