Nigerian standup comedian and actor, Bovi has blamed Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro for his team’s defeat against Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
CorrectNG reports that on Sunday night, three time champions, Nigeria lost 2-1 to the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire.
Giving his opinion on the outcome after the game ended, Bovi blasted the coach for his tactics which made to not go on all out attack.
He faulted Peseiro’s strategy of relying on defense rather than attack, stressing that Super Eagles is known for dribbles, attack and fluidity, hence why the manager’s formation did not work out well.
The 44-year-old comic act also said that if Nigeria, with an early lead in the first half of the match, had won the 2023 AFCON, he would have still been pissed.
Bovi wrote: “Blame the coach. We are a footballing nation of flare. Fluidity, through passes, dribbles, attack. Not all out defence. Even if we’d won, I would still be pissed. The style was evidently alien to the players.”
