Abel Enitan: Five things to know about newly appointed Head of Civil Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.

Enitan will succeed Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

Here are five things to know about the incoming Head of the Civil Service of the Federation:

1. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan hails from Osun State and was born on December 12, 1966.

2. He is the most senior Permanent Secretary

3. He has served in key government institutions. Before his current posting, Enitan served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.

4. Enitan had his secondary education at Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan, and the College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife.

5. He proceeded to the University of Lagos, where he obtained a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking in 1988. In 2015, he obtained a Master of Science degree in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia.
