The organization made this known at the launch of a project on trans-fatty acid at a forum that had the theme, “High-Level Engagement on the Elimination of Trans-fatty Acids (TFA) in Ghana.”
The launch of the program was held at the Institute of Leadership and Development (INSLA). This was contained in a report by GraphicOnline and the Director of INSLA, Mr. Benjamin Anabila during his submission indicated that the problems associated with trans-fatty acid were a potential national disaster, and if not taken into consideration, it could surpass the harm caused by COVID-19 in the country.
In his view, TFA had been identified as the leading cause of cardiovascular diseases and stroke adding that cardiovascular diseases, stroke, peripheral arterial diseases, and aortic disease had assumed significant importance in the global public health arena, with cardiovascular diseases now regarded as the number one cause of death.
