“I Can Revive Komenda Sugar Factory”-John Dumelo Says

Celebrated Ghanaian actor turned politician, John Dumelo has revealed his intention to take over the administration of the Komenda Sugar factory.

John Dumelo signaled the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his government to allow him take mandate over the facility, adding that he can revive it within 16 months.

John Dumelo who is also a farmer, made a bold assertion about how he wants to get the factory up and running again in a short period of time.

He claims that the Komenda sugar factory, which has been unable to produce sugar for years, will begin production exactly 16 months after being left to his care.

“I can revive the Komenda sugar factory if given the mandate. That factory will start producing sugar within 16 months (Considering planting and harvesting of sugarcane). The factory needs about 200,000 tons of sugarcane(pa) to operate at full capacity. We can do it!”, he wrote on Twitter.

As a reminder, the factory was rebuilt and commissioned by former president John Mahama on 30th May 2016.

Komenda sugar factory, which was expected to create 7,300 direct jobs and produce sugar for the country, was forced to close due to a lack of sugarcane and other resources needed to reopen the factory.
