Barcelona’s vice-president discloses the conditions set by Xavi for extending his tenure as manager.

Barcelona’s vice-president, Rafa Yuste, has disclosed that Xavi has not made any demands for big-money signings to prolong his tenure as manager. Instead, Xavi simply desires the opportunity to continue nurturing young talents.

Despite publicly stating his intention to step down this summer, Xavi has agreed to stay for at least another season following a meeting with Yuste, president Joan Laporta, and other senior officials on Wednesday evening.

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that Xavi had insisted on expensive signings like Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, Yuste has dismissed these claims.

“We did not discuss any changes. Convincing everyone was not difficult because Xavi has demonstrated his enthusiasm. We must provide him and his team with the necessary support to advance this project.

“Xavi is highly enthusiastic about the project. He remains committed out of passion, as he is a Cule and deeply cares for us. There is a vision that he wants to develop and pursue, focused on youth.”

Yuste emphasized, “We are enhancing the team’s style of play and fostering excitement with young talents like [Pau] Cubarsi, Lamine [Yamal], Fermin [Lopez]… This is a significant advantage, and Xavi has achieved it.”

Further underscoring the absence of transfer discussions, Yuste stressed that Barcelona’s priority is to restore financial equilibrium to a point where they can reinvest all generated funds this summer.

“First and foremost, we must work towards achieving a 1-1 formula,” Yuste explained.

Xavi is scheduled to address the media on Thursday afternoon to confirm his decision to continue as manager.
