RTEAN Appoints Former Students Union Leader As Taskforce Chairman—-To rid parks and garages in Lagos State of miscreants and anti social behaviours, and sustain peaceful transport operations, the state chapter of the Road Transport Employers Association RTEAN has appointed Comrade Olalere Owoseni aka SamGrin, a former students union leader at the Lagos State University (LASU), as the new chairman of its task force committee.

The move was in line with the union’s strategic direction to further reposition itself as a modern, democratic and law abiding group.

The committee has been saddled with the task of reorientating members, flushing out unlawful elements, and ensuring peaceful operations of the union members at motor parks across the state.

Owoseni will lead campaigns against drug abuse, thuggery, hooliganism and other anti social behaviours at the parks.

This was disclosed in an appointment letter, effective Monday April 8, 2024, issued to him in Lagos by the union during the week, and signed by the state secretary, Alhaji Yussuf Adebayo.

The letter partly read, “Sequel upon the State Executive Council’s resolution to re-engineer the Association in all facets, coupled with our total commitment to eliminate all impediments to effective service delivery by our esteemed members towards achieving our utmost goal of expansion and eradicating touts all over in the Association, I have been mandated by the State Executive Council of the Association to officially notify you that you have been appointed as the Chairman of RTEAN LSB State Taskforce.

“You are charged to weed our parks and garages of un-wanted elements, alcoholics,
Indian hemp smokers and law breakers in accordance with our constitution.”

The new Chairman, who was recently elected as the Assistant State Secretary of the union graduated from LASU where he was students union and senate president in 2017.

He holds a B.Sc in Pure and Applied Physics in 2019, Masters in project Management and currently pursuing another Masters degree in Criminal, Legal and Security Psychology at the University.

Owoseni is known as a change agent, unionist and CEO of Avalanche consult, a strategic reformation hub.

He has served as media aide to the Iyaloja General of the federation, Chief Mrs folashade tinubu-Ojo, south west students lead for research and policy team on the re-election bid of former president Muhammad Buhari in 2019 and co-convener of Lagos Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu Progressive Youth (SPY), a political group dedicated to galvanising support for the re-election bid.

As a young global thought leader and youth advocate, he also served as the NANS Chairman, JCC-Lagos in 2021.
