Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed condolences on the passing of the Afenifere chieftain and Chairman of Ekiti State All Progressives Congress Elders’ Forum, Chief George Akosile.

Chief Akosile, 88, who retired from the government as a permanent secretary in the former Ondo State and later served as the Alliance for Democracy’s state chairman, passed away on Friday.

“Ekiti has lost a great patriot, a servant-leader, a committed democrat and an illustrious elder, who loved the state and gave his best for its development,” the governor said in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode.

Oyebanji stated that the dead was a figurehead who he admired as a young politician and added that he had lost a political father whose life served as an example for both him and others who would follow.

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, expressed extreme regret over the news of Akosile’s passing and called it “a significant loss to Ekiti State and the entire country.”

In a message of sympathy, Fayemi added, “Chief Akosile was not just any politician to me; he was a major star of the progressive movement in the old Ondo State, presently including Ondo and Ekiti states. an insightful mentor and trusted ally. Baba was a supporter of our cause who shown everlasting dedication and selflessness.

With the departure of Chief Akosile, a political legend for the APC in the state, the party also lamented the loss of a political titan.

Pa Akosile is leaving us just when we need him the most, said APC State Publicity Secretary Segun Dipe on behalf of State Chairman Paul Omotoso and other executive members. Not only are we losing an experienced party member, but one whose contribution seems absolutely necessary.

“Pa Akosile was there for us even in his infirmity, and we continued to draw from his pool of knowledge until he passed away. Recently, Governor Oyebanji chose him to chair the committee on appointments into the state’s executive council, and the committee is doing an excellent job, as he was previously the chairman of our party’s Elders’ Forum, according to Dipe.
