If I wasn’t The Aare Ona Kakanfo, I May Have Taken A Different Stance On The 2023 Election — Gani Adams

The conduct of the 2023 election that led to the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President is currently being disputed at the Election Petition tribunal. The petitioners have claimed that the election was conducted in violation of INEC’s established procedures.

Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba Land, has expressed his disappointment with the 2023 election, stating in an interview with Sun paper that it did not meet the expectations of Nigerians.

Adams added that he would have exposed certain secrets about the election if he were not in such a critical position. He compared the 2023 election to the annulled 1993 election, emphasizing that justice must be served in order for an election to be deemed successful.

However, as the Aare Ona Kakanfo, Adams is cautious in his approach to such matters and prefers to make calls behind the scenes rather than publicly airing his thoughts.

In his on words, “If one fails to conduct an election in a fair manner, it will not yield the desired outcome. As the Aare Ona Kakanfo, I am cautious in my statements as this is a position that requires a reserved approach. If I were not holding this position, I may have taken a different stance. However, I prefer to privately communicate my thoughts as an elder rather than publicly express them in the media.”
