Tribunal: How Peter Obi rigged out Atiku in Anambra – Witness

Published

on

According to Punch, in a stunning revelation at the presidential election tribunal, Ndubuisi Nwobu, a witness of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate in the February 25th elections, shed light on how his candidate was allegedly rigged out by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, in Anambra state.

Nwobu, who serves as the Anambra PDP chairman and the state collation agent of the party, disclosed that “magic happened to the votes” of Atiku Abubakar at various collation centers. According to the results announced by the Independent Electoral Commission, Peter Obi received 584,621 votes in Anambra, while Atiku garnered only 9,036 votes in the state. Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress scored 5,111 votes.

During the tribunal proceedings, Nwobu revealed that after the votes were counted, the presiding officers refused to upload the results. He further explained that on the day of the elections, he visited approximately 30 polling units out of the 4,720 units in the state.

Nwobu disclosed that he was coerced into signing the result sheet at the state collation center because he was informed that he would not receive a copy if he refused to sign. He stated, “I signed the result sheet when it was obvious that without signing, a copy would not be made available to me.”

The witness also confirmed that the PDP agents at the polling units had signed the result sheets before they were taken to the collation center. However, Nwobu revealed that problems arose at the ward-level collation center, where the alleged manipulation of the results began. He stated, “That is where the magic started happening. There were problems at the polling units with presiding officers.”

Nwobu further elaborated that in some instances, he had to intervene to prevent voters and other party agents from attacking officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He recounted instances where his intervention was necessary to safeguard the polling officers from potential harm.

Ndubuisi Nwobu is the eleventh witness presented by Atiku Abubakar’s legal team before the five-member panel led by Haruna Tsammani at the presidential election tribunal.

These revelations have significant implications for the integrity of the electoral process and raise questions about the transparency and fairness of the elections in Anambra StateState. The tribunal will continue to hear testimonies and examine evidence to determine the validity of these claims and ensure that justice is served.
