During a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Governor Nyesom Wike discussed the possibility of receiving an appointment from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The outgoing Governor of Rivers state stated that he would not consider himself too important to serve Nigeria if given the opportunity by Tinubu.

Quoting Wike, “as for now, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is yet to give me an appointment. I cannot say I am too big to serve Nigeria if appointed by him.”

When asked about his plans for after leaving office, Wike expressed his intention to rest. He said he felt he had done his best during his time as Governor and deserved some time off.

Furthermore, Wike emphasized that even if Tinubu were to offer him a position, he would consult with his wife and friends before making a decision. He also stated that he would evaluate his level of preparedness for the appointment.

Finally, Wike expressed his confidence that God would guide him on his next steps after leaving office.
