Binta Nyako, an Abuja Federal High Court judge, has directed the Department of State Services (DSS) to enable Nnamdi Kanu, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, to change his clothing while in detention.

Nyako had initially ordered the DSS to allow the IPOB leader to bathe anytime he wanted, change his clothing, eat properly, and practice his faith. However, Kanu’s lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome, protested in court on Tuesday that his client is still being mistreated in DSS custody.

Kanu is still being held in solitary prison, according to him, and any inmate who greets him is also being held in detention.
Nyako informed the accused, just before adjourning the case, that he was being held in a detention center and not a  five-star hotel.

She did, nevertheless, maintain her previous ruling that the IPOB commander be given as much luxury as possible, including the opportunity to change his Fendi clothing from when he was transported back into the country in June 2021.
