2027: Senator Abaribe Defects to Labour Party Months After Joining ADC

Abia South Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Labour Party.

The Abia State Publicity Secretary of the party, Emenike Iroegbu, confirmed the development, stating that the senator has formally aligned with the Labour Party.

Abaribe’s latest move marks another shift in a political career known for strategic realignments across party platforms.

He had joined the African Democratic Congress in December last year after exiting the All Progressives Grand Alliance, under which he secured re-election in the 2023 general elections.

However, his stint with the ADC lasted only a few months before his latest defection.

The senator is currently serving his fifth term representing Abia South Senatorial District.

As of the time of filing this report, Abaribe has yet to personally confirm or deny the move.
