2027: Former Abia Speaker announces support for Tinubu’s re-election

Christopher Enweremadu, a former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly has announced his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

The former speaker made his stance on the presidential candidacy of Tinubu known at the enlarged political meeting of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area on March 7.

A former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Enweremadu also used the opportunity to declare his intention to vie for the Abia Central Senatorial seat at the National Assembly in the coming election.

Calling on the people to massively support his candidacy and that of Tinubu, Enweremadu said Nigeria continues to stand tall in the comity of nations due to the president’s policies.

Stating that the biting hardship across the nation is short-lived, the former speaker said Nigerians would eventually reap the benefits of Tinubu’s administration in due time.

His words, “The President means well for the Igbo. If they vote massively for Tinubu in 2027, the President will always remember them.

“In the last election, we did not vote for President Tinubu the way it should have been. But in 2027, nobody is talking about 25 per cent votes for the President; we are going to give him over 80 per cent of Abia votes.

“Isiala Ngwa North has been marginalised in the politics of the zone in the past, and this has to stop,” Enweremadu said.

Speaking further, he emphasised the need for the people of Isiala Ngwa to produce the next Senator for Abia Central District.

According to him, Isiala Ngwa is the only LGA yet to produce a senator from the zone since the return of democracybin Nigeria.

He also assured his people of his capacity to lead them and protect their interests at the National Assembly once elected into office.

“Some people say I am too young to go to the Senate, that the upper legislative chamber is not for small boys. How can I be a small boy at 59? By next year, I will be 60. The only thing is that such people do not know what to use to campaign against me.

“If I am elected, I am going to use my wealth of experience to ensure that my people get what is due to them,” he said.
