Argentina will be hoping to have Lionel Messi fit and ready for the start of the 2026 World Cup, after he suffered muscle fatigue in his left hamstring.
Messi picked up the injury while playing for Inter Miami against Philadepphia Union on Sunday.
The 39-year-old was forced off the pitch in the 73rd minute of play.
A club statement read: “After undergoing further medical tests this Monday, the initial diagnosis indicates an overload associated with muscle fatigue in his left hamstring.
“The timeline for his return to physical activity will depend on his clinical and functional progress.”
The Argentina national team will play in Group J along with Algeria, Austria and Jordan at the 2026 World Cup.
Before the tournament however, they will take on Honduras on June 6, and Iceland on June 9 in friendly matches.
