2026 UTME: How underage candidates can check their JAMB results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results of underage candidates for viewing.

However, the examination body has stressed that obtaining a UTME result does not automatically make an underage candidate eligible for admission.

According to JAMB, the results can only be considered for admission by candidates who meet the conditions for exceptional admission.

To qualify for consideration, an underage candidate must score at least 320 in the UTME and obtain a minimum of 80 per cent in relevant subjects in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Candidates who meet these requirements will still have to satisfy other admission conditions before they can be considered for placement.

How to check the 2026 UTME result

Underage candidates who want to check their results can do so through SMS using the phone number linked to their UTME registration.

To check the result:

  1. Use the same phone number used to register for the 2026 UTME.
  2. Open the SMS application on the phone.
  3. Type RESULT in capital letters.
  4. Send the message to 55019 or 66019.
  5. JAMB will send the candidate’s result to the phone via SMS.

Candidates are advised to ensure they use the same phone number linked to their registration when making the request.

JAMB’s clarification means that while underage candidates can now access their UTME performance, the release of the results should not be interpreted as an automatic offer or guarantee of university admission.

Only candidates who meet the stipulated requirements for exceptional admission will be considered.
