According to Chuks Ohuegbe, Director of Publication at Pilot paper, a House of Representatives member receives a monthly pay of 13 million naira, and a senator receives a monthly salary of 18 million naira, while the minimum income is 30 000 naira.

Chuks Ohuegbe made the statement during an interview with AIT during the Kakaaki show, when he was asked to respond to an unusual increase in the salaries of the president, Vice President, and MPs, especially at a time when fuel subsidies are being phased out and minimum wages are being debated.

Ohuegebe stated that they are ignoring the leaky roof since it will continue to leak and the worker mopping will continue to do his job. According to Chuks, all of this demonstrates that the Nigerian masses no longer matter.

“A member of the house of representatives receives 13 million naira per month, a senator receives 18 million naira per month (excluding additional benefits), and the minimum pay is 30,000 naira. Most Nigerian states do not even pay that amount, and you have to wonder how many Nigerians are employed, how many are in public service.”

He claimed that when it comes to the reduction of fuel subsidies and the impact on the public, the administration puts the cart before the horse.
