The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, administrative bail following an interrogation over alleged financial misconduct during his tenure.
Tambuwal, who also served as Speaker of the House of Representatives, is accused of unlawfully withdrawing about ₦189 billion while in office.
He honoured the EFCC’s invitation on Monday, arriving at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja at 11:16 a.m.
A senior official of the commission, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the former governor had met the necessary bail requirements.
“He has just already been granted an administrative bail. We’ve extracted what we need from him and he will soon leave our headquarters after perfecting his bail conditions,” the source said.
EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, also confirmed the development but declined to provide further details.
