Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has reaffirmed the state’s unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and to President Bola Tinubu, describing Borno as the party’s “undisputed stronghold.”
Zulum made the declaration on Monday during the flag-off of the APC North-East e-registration workshop held in Maiduguri, the state capital. The event was attended by top party stakeholders, including national and state executives, lawmakers, and local government chairmen.
The governor pledged his administration’s full support for the success of the APC’s digital membership registration exercise across the North-East region.
“I want to assure you that the Government of Borno State under my leadership will provide the desired support to ensure the success of the APC membership e-registration exercise in the North-East,” he said. “Our party members in states governed by other political parties will also be supported to get captured.”
Zulum said the people of Borno remained steadfast in their support for the APC, crediting the party’s leadership for restoring peace and rebuilding the state after years of insurgency.
“Let there be no doubt in anyone’s mind, Borno State is 100% for the APC. Our loyalty to the party and its leadership is absolute,” he declared. “Before the APC came to power, Borno was on its knees. Our economy was shattered, our local governments were under siege, and our people lived in fear. Today, the narrative is changing because of the relentless efforts and support of the APC-led Federal Government.”
The governor praised both former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu for sustaining the federal government’s commitment to peace and development in the North-East.
“From President Buhari’s administration, we received unprecedented support in our fight against terrorism, including the establishment of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), which has been vital in rebuilding our communities,” he said. “Under President Tinubu, that support has not only continued but strengthened, with the federal government working closely with us to ensure the safe resettlement and empowerment of our people.”
Zulum also highlighted Borno’s pride in producing Vice President Kashim Shettima under the APC platform, describing it as a testament to the state’s political relevance.
He concluded by urging residents to begin mobilising early support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“I call on the good people of Borno State to join me in supporting the re-election of President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections,” he said. “Let us build that momentum now and work together to ensure his visionary leadership continues to guide our nation forward.”
