The Police Command in Adamawa, in collaboration with sister security agencies, said adequate security arrangements had been concluded to ensure safe and secure
Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The command’s Spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Yola, noting that adequate deployment of police personnel and operational assets had also been made.
He said the Commissioner of Police (CP), Morris Dankombo, has ordered 24 hours routine patrol, visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, stop-and-search exercises, and confidence-building engagements throughout the festive period.
He added that “the Anti-Bomb Squad sweeps and draws a security ring across all places of worship, event centres and recreational facilities.
“The Officer in Charge of the Central Motor Traffic Division (CMTD) is to ensure effective control for free flow of traffic and cars are parked a bit far from places of worship.
“Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Intelligence, to activate and ensure effective information gathering for proper coordination.”
He urged residents to be vigilant and report suspicious persons, movement, or item around their neighbourhood to the nearest Police Station or call emergency numbers 08089671313/ 08065604764/08144214876.
The command warmed against dangerous, reckless driving, car racing.
“Car/Power Bike Racing and all forms of unauthorised racing that constitute nuisance and danger are prohibited.
“Parents and guardians are advised to monitor their wards to avoid cases of missing children, accidents, child trafficking, among others.”
