The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State, has deployed 452 personnel to ensure free flow of traffic during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Sector Commander, Mr Apaji Boyi, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Bauchi on Tuesday.
Boyi said the corps also deployed 12 patrol vehicles, five ambulances and a tow truck to ensure smooth traffic management during the yuletide
“The corps is conscious of the volume of traffic that will be coming into Bauchi, and deployed both personnel and logistics, presently, concentrating on the entrances to the state.
“This is because people will be coming in from all the nooks and crannies of the state, and patrol operation is ongoing to ensure safe movement of all the entrants to the city,” he said.
Boyi assured the readiness of the corps to maintain traffic control and guarantee free flow of vehicles.
He, however, warned drivers and other road users to shun speed, overload and strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has deployed 1,100 personnel to protect lives and property during the festive season in the state.
The spokesman of the corps, Saminu Yusuf, said the deployment included both covert and overt operations, joint patrols, protection of critical national assets/infrastructure, places of worship, parks, eateries, banks and hotels.
He said the corps charged the personnel to be diligent, focused and honest in discharging their duties.
According to Yusuf, the corps will be proactive and intensify patrols to dominate public spaces during the yuletide.
He urged residents to eschew acts capable of disrupting the relative peace in the state.
Also, Omolori Aliyu, Commissioner of Police in the state, assured of adequate security to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Aliyu charged Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders to intensify patrols and be proactive during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He enjoined residents to be vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
