“Your problem starts the day you empower your wife” — Don Nweke

Businessman and self-styled royal HRM Don Sylvester Nweke set social media abuzz after a frank appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where he laid out what he described as hard-earned rules for married men.

Don Nweke told host and guests that a man’s troubles begin the day he “opens business” for his wife or girlfriend, and argued that empowering a woman leads to problems in marriage.

Don Nweke

“Your problem starts as a man the day you open business for your wife or girlfriend. The day you empower her, your problem starts,” he said, recounting his own past marriage.

“I have an ex-wife, I bought her car, took her abroad and opened a mini supermarket for her,” he added.

Polygamy as a peace strategy, he says

Going further, Don Nweke surprised listeners by advocating polygamy as a solution to marital strife. He claimed that marrying multiple wives brings peace, citing an anecdote about a long marriage that broke down only in the couple’s later years.

He argued, “I have seen a husband and wife that stayed 50 years in marriage and on their 50th years, they started having a problem which made him do a DNA test only to find out only their last daughter that cause their fight was his only biological child,” he said. “50 years of a christian woman that stays at home, doesnt go out and you can vow for. I believe as an african person, you should marry many wives to have peace because many wives gives peace.”

Heated exchange with Daddy Freeze

Radio host Daddy Freeze pushed back, reminding Don Nweke that polygamy does not always guarantee harmony.

“My father married two wives, there was no peace,” Freeze interjected.

Don Nweke responded unapologetically. “He should have married more. Like I am, I have a wife in London, America, Kenya, and many are chasing me online.”

Sharp counsel on marriage formalities

Don Nweke also delivered blunt, some might say provocative, advice about marriage formality and faith-based unions.

He urged men to avoid court marriages while insisting on a woman taking her husband’s last name.

“Don’t do court marriage, don’t even go near church and if you don’t answer my name, you are not my wife, you belong to your father’s house. Let that father marry you!” he said.

Public reactions

BiggestPheel noted: “Me being here at the level I am today is because my Dad empowered my Mom with a business of her own , I would say I benefited more from my mother’s income that that of my father’s,, I don’t know what this one is talking about.”

earlability opined: “Only a weak man with low self esteem is scared of a woman’s success!! I empower u , u turn out to be a fool and start misbehaving, I divorce or seperate from u and go enjoy my life elsewhere! Simple.”
