Young boy disguises as a Lady to Sc*m men on social media

The Niger State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old boy, Victor Ugwu, for allegedly engaging in a dating sc*m and posing as a woman online.

Victor, a resident of Easy Life Street, Kaduna Road, was intercepted on 16 October 2025 by a patrol team from the Maje Division after being involved in a public argument with a local resident, identified as Peter.

How the Sc*m Was Exposed

Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun revealed the incident in a statement on Sunday. He explained that Peter had approached Victor a year ago to help him connect with a female friend.

However, instead of linking them, Victor allegedly disguised himself as a woman, took photos of himself, and sent them to Peter through social media while demanding money.

During investigation, a search was conducted in Victor’s house, and a wig and female clothes were recovered,” Abiodun said.

Confession and Social Media Motive

According to the police, Victor admitted that he shared his fake photos with several contacts on Facebook and TikTok as part of a dating sc*m.

He also confessed that he wanted to attract more followers and views on his social media accounts for monetisation.

“The case is under further investigation,” Abiodun added.

Police Warn Against Online Scams

The police have urged residents to be cautious while interacting online and to verify identities before sending money to anyone they have not met in person.

This case highlights the growing trend of online scams and identity fraud in Nigeria, where fr*udsters use social media to deceive unsuspecting victims.
