The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a weak and irrelevant political platform in Abuja.
Wike described the party as “fake and nonexistent” after it failed to win a single councillorship seat in the recent Area Council elections.
He spoke on Tuesday during a thank-you visit to the Bwari Area Council in Abuja, where he met with traditional rulers and party supporters.
The minister mocked opposition figures who, according to him, only mix with ordinary people for show.
He accused them of buying corn and groundnuts by the roadside for political drama while neglecting real development when they were in office.
“I don’t know fake people. I carry a party; they say they are a national party, yet they cannot win a single councillorship. Is that a party? A party that cannot win one out of sixty-two wards? That is not a party. The ruling party today is the APC, and the opposition party is our own party, the PDP. All the other ones, I don’t know where they stand”, he declared.
Wike said leadership now requires action and not empty talk.
He stressed that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is focused on leaders who understand the struggles of the people.
According to him, the days of enjoying power without delivering results are over.
The minister reaffirmed his promise to transform Bwari and its surrounding communities.
He pledged to complete the Bwari–Kubwa road project before the end of 2026.
“Agreement is agreement. You have fulfilled your part of the agreement by supporting the president’s candidates. Now, it is my turn to fulfill mine.
“The road we are doing from Bwari to Kubwa — we will finish it this year. We are going to work with the new chairman, Joshua, because I want someone who understands me, and I want someone I will understand”, he said.
The Chairman-elect of Bwari Area Council, Joshua Ishaku, praised Wike’s visit and described it as a rare sign of humility from a top government official.
He said the council had planned to visit the minister in his office, but Wike chose to come to them instead.
“We are overwhelmed. Sir, you are a humble leader and a father. We can see, feel, and touch the developmental strides you have made in just two years. As obedient followers, we followed your instructions, and it is no wonder Bwari was the first election result to be declared”, he said.
Joshua Ishaku also pledged full support for the federal government’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
He promised that the people of Bwari would stand firmly with the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged Wike to continue his “Mr. Project” legacy by building more schools, hospitals, and roads across the council.
