“Ye-ri-ma” – Oxford urged to add viral Naval officer’s name to dictionary

A Nigerian man has gone viral after calling on the Oxford Dictionary to officially include the name of viral naval officer, Lt. Yerima, in its entries.

The call comes as Lt. Yerima continues to trend across social media following a clash with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Yerima became a trending name after a now-famous exchange with Nyesom Wike, which quickly went viral online.

Man Calls on Oxford to Add ‘Yerima’

A young man identified as Bamijoko Kayode Oto took to Facebook to propose that the officer’s name be added to Oxford Dictionary, citing his prominence in Nigeria.

“Since YERIMA has been the most mentioned name in Nigeria these past days, I think the Oxford Dictionary should consider creating a space for him in the dictionary,” he wrote.

Defining ‘Yerima’: Meaning and Usage Explained

In his post, Oto didn’t just call for inclusion, he suggested meanings and grammatical uses for the name.

For instance, he defined Yerima as:

“Adjective: dignity, integrity, defence

Verb: yerima

Past tense: yerimied

Present continuous: yeriming

Present perfect: yerimied”

Practical Examples of Usage

To illustrate his point, Oto shared several sentences demonstrating how the term could be used in daily conversation:
